Black Miami weekend vol. 6

May 21 - 24, 2026 | Miami, fl

Black Miami Weekend isn't an event. It's an invitation.

An invitation into a way of gathering that most of us have been hungry for but rarely find — where the point isn't the photo, the lineup, or the clout. Where the point is you, the people next to you, and what gets built between you.

Think: your friend who grew up in Miami finally said come through — and meant it.

Think: a group trip where everyone actually knows each other by the end.

Think: four days where you're not performing enjoyment, you're actually having it.

Black Miami Weekend is a thoughtfully curated gathering experience, built around a vetted events hosted by Frolic Culture and local organizations. Every detail — who's in the room, how the space is held, what we eat, how we move through the city — is designed with one priority: you feeling seen, held, and connected.

We come together during Florida’s Emancipation Day to celebrate and move through a city that has always been profoundly Black — a Miami that most visitors never get to know. Our goal is to change that. Not just for the weekend, but for good.

We're not just connecting people to Miami. We're connecting Miami locals to each other, visitors to locals, and all of us to a network of Black community that outlasts the weekend and grows stronger every year. This is ecosystem building rooted in a frolic-y time.

The era of unintentional events is over. People want vibes and depth. We built both.

Why we moved BMW to may.

Black Miami Weekend 2026 is happening May 21–24 — and yes, we moved it from Juneteenth on purpose.

May 21st is Florida's Emancipation Day. We couldn't imagine a more fitting day to open a weekend built around Black joy, Black history, and the kind of community that actually sustains people than on the date Florida marks its own reckoning with freedom. That's where we begin.

And honestly? May just works. The weather cooperates. The beaches are calling. The outdoor programming hits different when the heat isn't trying to humble you.

Intentional timing. Intentional gathering. That's the vibe.

How the Events Work

All events are open to the public.

Some events are ticketed (a donation is required), and some just need an RSVP — check the event flyer for details. Ticket drop notifications are shared on our Instagram, and all tickets are housed on POSH.

Our WhatsApp community gets first dibs on tickets and RSVPs, so join the group for early access.

Please note: this is self and community-funded programming. We ask that you not hold us to the standard of a 100-person corporation. This weekend is built with care and love, not for profit.
